In Switzerland, the states or cantons have the power to decide whether or not they want to allow foreigners to buy vacation apartments. This means that in some designated areas you can buy, but in others it is impossible, unless you own a residential permit.

70 km from Geneva, year round this is one of the most scenic locations in Switzerland where foreigners can buy apartments. The area has been a favorite among tourists since the 18th century.

Foreigners without a valid residency permit cannot buy properties in these areas. Swiss law does not allow foreigners to buy apartments in these cities. However we have some alternative solutions you may wish to consider.

One of the favorite places of visitors to Switzerland, this scenic wilderness region is easily accessible by car, train or airplane. There are hundreds of ski trails, walking tours among glaciers and mountains, and many resources that cater for the tourists. This region enjoys Switzerland's best climate; it's hot in the summer and always snowy in the winter. The air is so dry that people used to come to Valais for their health!

This huge region is a tourist's paradise with its many recreational areas for skiing and hiking. The Swiss National Park and the world's most exclusive resort, St Moritz, are located in this area. Although more remote than Valais, it has an airport, and Austria and Italy are just a few miles away.
