If you were
able to visit only one place in Switzerland, you would have to chose Valais. When it comes
to mountains, Valais has to be the most famous canton in Switzerland. Valais, or Wallis as
it is known in German, is home to Zermatt and the Matterhorn, as well as many other
excellent resorts. Here are the highest mountains of the Alps, with dozens of summits of
more than 4000 meters. Sharing frontiers with Italy and France, this bilingual canton,
where French and German are both spoken, is easily reached by train, car or plane. |

Airport |
Sion, in the heart
of the canton, is a civil-military international airport with a huge runway and daily
connections to Geneva and Zürich, and regular connections to London. Geneva,
about 1 and a half hours from Sion by train, has excellent connections to most European

night life in the main resorts throughout the winter and summer. If you're bored, take the
