Jura and
Neuchâtel, the French-speaking cantons of Switzerland, share their longest borders with
France. They are not usually the first choice as tourist destinations, with so many other,
fancier places in Switzerland. The Jura, the second mountain chain of Switzerland, doesn't
offer the scenic landscapes of the Alps, but its undulating valleys have a great deal of
charm. The city of Neuchâtel also has a lot to offer, and certainly deserves a visit. |

Neuchâtel |
|
|
The former home of
royalty, Neuchâtel was in Prussian territory until 1815 when it became one of the three
last cantons to enter the Swiss confederation. Neuchâtel is situated on the shores of a
lake that bears the same name, and is a very scenic little medieval town built on
terraces. |

St.-Cergue |

|
St.-Cergue is a
small resort with an extensive cross-country ski area. If you wish to buy a vacation
apartment near Geneva, St.-Cergue is the closest place available. While it may not have
the prestige of St-Moritz or Zermatt, it is still very charming and is close to excellent
resources. |
