As long as you have commited no crime toward Swiss law, your
money is safe in Switzerland. Over the centuries, Swiss banks have been offering
asylum to those worried about the security of their money, be it because of political
turmoil or predatory governments. For example, during the Fascist period in Europe
(1922-1945), many people persecuted in their own countries invested their money in
Switzerland to protect their financial future against the Nazis and other black shirts. It
was during this period that Switzerland adopted its banking secret laws,
which send to jail any banker who reveals information about his client.
If you deposit money in a Swiss bank and your country's
fiscal authority or a similar Government agency asks your Swiss bank for information about
you, they will be told nothing. This is our banking secret .
However, our laws do not protect dirty money. That
is, money obtained from criminal activities such as drug dealing. If the police come
asking about you and they have ample proof that the money originates from criminal
activities, the bankers will have to answer.
