Crans-Montana : arrival and information Home > Tourist Guide > Table of contents > Valais > Valais romand > Crans Montana > Arrival The funicular from Sierre arrives at Vermala station at the eastern end of Montana. Buses also run from Sierre on two different routes. The first (via Chermignon) passes through Crans, then Montana, then on to Aminona; the second (via Mollens) passes through Montana before terminating in Crans. There’s also a bus running between Sion and Crans. All SMC buses shuttling to and fro on circular routes within the resort boundaries are free. Montana’s tourist office is 100m west (left) of the funicular station (mid-June to August & Dec–Easter Mon–Sat 8.30am–noon & 2–6.30pm, Sun 10am–noon & 4–6pm; rest of year Mon–Fri 8.30am–noon & 2–6pm, Sat 8.30am–noon; 027/485 04 04, www.crans-montana.ch). The village centre is another 200m west, focused around the Ycoor ice-skating rink. Just beyond is the small Lac Grenon. Running along the northern shore is the Route de Rawyl, always busy with cars. Some 800m west is Rue Centrale in Crans, home to the Crans tourist office (same times; 027/485 08 00) more or less opposite the Étang Long lakelet, which itself backs onto the championship golf course. Information and tickets for the European Masters golf tournament (Fr.30–60 per day, Fr.90 for the weekend, or Fr.140 for five days), held in the first week in September, can be had from the Golf-Club Crans, CP 112, CH-3963 Crans-sur-Sierre (027/485 97 97). |
